THE 2024 SUBMISSION PORTAL IS OPEN!
The Fly Fishing Film Tour® is is calling all anglers, filmmakers, storytellers, and folks from all walks of life – we want to share your fishing stories on the big screen. For the 2024 tour, we are looking for a very diverse lineup to represent all of the people, species, places, story types and more that make up the amazing fly fishing community. The best films will be selected for inclusion in our world-wide tour and up for awards from our expert panel of judges and audience.
2024 represents the 18th year of the F3T. This year the tour will be bigger and better than ever with our roadcrew visiting more than 40 locations across the USA, more than 150 North American shows as well as F3T and partner tours in Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, France, Germany, the UK and more.
ENTRY CATEGORIES
Entries are now being accepted in the following categories:
- American Film – films set in the USA or Canada.
- International Film – films set in an international destination, outside the USA or Canada.
- Women’s Film – films about women or women’s diversity or by female filmmakers, aimed at encouraging women in the fly fishing film industry.
- Young Filmmaker – young filmmakers under 25 years of age.
- Conservation and Environmental – films with an environmental or conservation focus.
Awards will be made in each of these categories together with a special prize for best Overall Film, our Audience Award and a Diversity Award for the film that best represents diversity topics within a fly fishing context.
We will accept films of any length, however, the recommended length for inclusion in the tour is 8-12 minutes.
IMPORTANT DATES
Early-bird submissions: now through August 31, 2023
Deadline for rough-cut submission: September 30, 2023
Late deadline: October 31, 2023
Extended deadline and all final submission materials due: November 30, 2023
Notification deadline: December 7, 2023.
If selected, completed films due: December 20, 2023.
** Please note that we will be assessing films on a first in basis so you are encouraged to pitch your concepts and films as soon as possible within the timeline above. If possible we will select the films early and close submissions prior to the dates above.**

SUBMISSION RULES
- All submission must be original content not released on DVD/Internet prior to May 31, 2024.
- Entries cannot be appearing in another Fly Fishing Film Festival being shown in USA or Canada during the 2023 or 2024 Calendar Year.
- All entries must have all copyrighted materials cleared and documented.
- Entries must have a release date, copyright date or airdate during calendar year 2023 or 2024.
- Multiple entries will be accepted.
- Entries received must include a rough cut of the film, short synopsis and proposed title
- No “Self Help”, “Instructional”,”How To”, “Lodge/Outfitter/Guide Service Promotion” films will be selected.
Selected filmmakers will be entitled to the following:
- Film Teaser promotion on F3T website and Social Media
- Company logo or filmmaker photo displayed on F3T website
- Film tour film submission description to be displayed on F3T website
- Film Company or filmmaker bio to be displayed on F3T website
- Film company or filmmaker web address to be displayed on F3T website
- Filmmaker and film description to be mentioned in PR materials and press kits
- Additional Distribution via Adventure Entertainment and Outside platforms (case by case negotiations)
REQUIREMENTS FOR FINAL FILM SUBMISSION UPON ACCEPTANCE
Submissions can be any length up to a 20-minute maximum, make them as long as they are good – most films are best at 8-12 minutes. They must have a story with start, middle, and ending. Longer films are eligible for awards but will not be selected in the tour.
Film submissions must be fly fishing related.
Final Submissions must include the following:
- Fully edited film tour submission up to 20 minutes long
- 20 second max end credits for film credits and sponsor mentions (Sponsor mentions must be at end of film in end credits only)
- Film Trailer up to 3 minutes long to be uploaded on Vimeo. Less is more here. The trailer should be intriguing without giving away the entire film.
- Title Card JPEG of the film for display on the Trailer Page and Newsletters.
- Filmmaker photo or film company logo*
- Photo stills from film (5 minimum)*
- Max 500 word description of film**
- Max 500 word filmmaker or company biography**
*(All Photos and stills must be submitted on DVD, Electronic Transfer Mechanism (ie DropBox or We Transfer) or email in print quality resolution & format, 300 DPI in JPG TIF or EPS)
**(Film description and filmmaker or company biography must be submitted as a typed word document .doc)
CASH AWARDS
F3T awards compensation to filmmakers who are selected for the 2023 film tour program line up assessed on a case by case basis as well as offering filmmakers the right to run and retain profits from independent promoter showings of the F3T. In order to be eligible for cash and in-kind awards submitted films must meet all submission guidelines described on this page and sign a Fly Fishing Film Tour license agreement.

- HD quality 1920×1080– PRORES 422 (or other HD Codec)
- Preferred Frame Rate – 23.98 (24p)
Each entry may not use any unauthorized copyright material including music images or film. If you have copyright material in your film you must be able to provide legal documentation of your permission of its use. Films with copyright material that do not provide this documentation will be disqualified. Each Film entered must be fishing related or orientated. Please preview your entries before shipping. Programs with time code or other defects will be disqualified.
