Run Time: 15:55 Minutes

Roosterfish explode from the surf like living legends, combs flaring, bars flashing, every eat a shot of adrenaline that leaves even seasoned anglers breathless. Anchored by the knowledge of Frank Smethurst, Grant Hartman, and Juan Lucero, the film dives into a fishery that defined modern inshore fly fishing on Baja’s East Cape and ignited the chaos of Mag Bay’s Los Locos.

Yet for all the hype, roosterfish remain one of the least understood gamefish. Their movements, their behavior, still a mystery, despite driving massive economic energy down the Pacific coast from Mexico to Peru.

Revealing findings from the first-ever study on the species, conducted by IGFA, and taking viewers on a cinematic journey full of stoke and heartfelt storytelling, this film lays the foundation for the Rooster Fly Project–a long-overdue effort to better understand and protect a fish that deserves more than our pursuit.
