There are places in the world where a map doesn’t tell you anything. Where the wind has the last word, the horizon never ends, and the fish become legends. For us, Dream Waters Angling was born in one of those places.
Our story starts in 2008, when Roberto and Luciano Alba—a father and son who had spent their lives chasing wild fish across Argentina—looked out across the empty steppe toward a body of water few people had ever seen: Lake Strobel, later known to the world as Jurassic Lake. At that time, there was no lodge, no road, and no reason to believe that building something there was remotely possible. But there was something stronger than logic: the feeling that this was a once-in-a-lifetime place, and that if they approached it with respect, authenticity, and patience it could become one of the great fly-fishing destinations on earth.
Together with a small group of close friends, they took a leap that most would call crazy. They carved out a path across the desert, built Estancia Laguna Verde from scratch, and welcomed the first adventurous anglers to a place where rainbows grew thick-backed and chrome, and the wind felt like a living thing. Those early years weren’t easy—nothing in that part of Patagonia ever is—but they shaped the identity of what would eventually become Dream Waters Angling, a project powered not by investors, but by people who love fishing, wild places, and doing things the right way.

From those humble beginnings, the dream began to grow. The same spirit that carried the team through the Strobel winds pushed them to explore other waters across Argentina. A floating lodge, the Golden Dorado River Cruiser, was built to chase dorado, cruising hidden parts of the Paraná River system. A second lodge on the shores of Jurassic Lake, Lago Strobel Lodge, is for anglers seeking an even more remote and intimate experience. A Buenos Aires program designed to show that world-class fishing exists just a short drive from the capital. A pristine northern Patagonia ranch, Estancia Chochoy Mallín, added to the collection for those who crave dry-fly magic. And the legendary Middle Paraná, now home to Paraná River Lodge, is the newest chapter in the story.
Today, Dream Waters Angling is a family of lodges and operations united by a simple idea: to share Argentina’s wildest waters with the world in a way that feels real, personal, and unforgettable. Because what makes a fishing trip truly great isn’t just the fish or the river—it’s the people. Our guides, chefs, lodge teams, founders, and friends pour their hearts into every week. We sit at the table with our guests, share the stories, cast together, celebrate a good fish, and feel the loss of the one that got away.

Being featured in the Fly Fishing Film Tour is more than an honor for us—it’s a chance to showcase the places that shaped our lives and the community that has grown around them. This isn’t just a business. It’s our family’s story, our legacy, and our way of inviting the world to experience a piece of the magic that first captured us on a windswept plateau in Patagonia.
And in many ways, the adventure is just beginning.
