Where I’m Meant to Be

  • North America

Filmmaker: Andrew Krantz

From the moment Oregon local Megan Brown stepped onto the ice as a child, she knew she was exactly where she was meant to be. Figure skating became her world— a passion that brought her joy, confidence, and purpose. For nearly a decade, Mega devoted herself to the sport, pouring her heart into the routines and the rink that felt like home.

But as Megan grew older, she began to feel the weight of the changing dynamics within the sport. She was now competing against skaters who were significantl younger, and as she grew older and into a woman, she realized she no longer felt at home in the competitive arena. Leaving skating behind wasn’t just a difficult decision; meant walking away from the life she’d built and the person she thought she was.

Without skating, Megan struggled to redefine herself. The loss left her untethered wrestling with questions of who she was and where she belonged. She explored the outdoors, trying hiking, mountaineering, and skiing, but none of these pursuits fully reignited the spark she had once felt on the ice. Then, she discovered fly fish

Stepping into the river, Megan felt an unexpected sense of home. In fly fishing, found a connection—a graceful, deliberate pursuit that mirrored the rhythm and artistry of her skating. But what truly captivated her was the chance to simply be—to lose herself in the flow of the river and find joy in the present moment. There was no me to win, no score to achieve. It was the greatest relief she had ever felt: a space where she could be happy without needing to prove anything to anyone, including herself.

Where I’m Meant to Be is a story of transformation, identity, and belonging. It explores the heartache of leaving behind what defines us and the courage it takes to step int the unknown. Through Megan’s journey, the film reminds us that even when life’s pat changes, there is beauty in trusting ourselves and finding joy in unexpected place
